Hours can change, especially on Sundays and public holidays, so please call ahead to confirm before you go. Every listing page includes a phone number and map location.

Quick tips for Kumasi residents

24-hour options. At the time of writing, Top-Up Pharmacy (Adum), Menri, Panacea (Asafo), Vital (Ahodwo), Gasto (Ayeduase), Pillmart and Rany are all listed as open 24 hours. Save one or two near your home in your phone contacts.

Sundays are different. Many Kumasi pharmacies open later on Sundays, often around midday or 1 p.m. after church, and a few, such as KAK Pharmacy and Mikaddo, are listed as closed on Sundays. Plan ahead for repeat prescriptions.

Traffic matters. Around Kejetia, Adum and the Asafo/Labour area, traffic can turn a short trip into an hour. A pharmacy a little further away but off the main roads may be quicker to reach.

Bring your prescription. Prescription-only medicines need a valid prescription. A photo of the old pack or prescription helps the pharmacist find the right product and strength.

Ask about NHIS. Some pharmacies dispense NHIS-covered medicines. Ask when you call and bring your card.

Emergencies. For chest pain, breathing difficulties, serious injuries or signs of a stroke, go straight to a hospital emergency unit, such as Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, or call 112 for the National Ambulance Service.

Licensed premises. Community pharmacies and chemical shops in Ghana are regulated by the Pharmacy Council. Look for proper labelling, a clean counter and trained staff.
